The International Brain Initiative (IBI) recently announced Prof. ZHENG Jialin has assumed the role of Co-Chair of its Executive Committee. He will provide shared leadership with the IBI chair, helping to advance this global scientific initiative to its next stage of development.

The International Brain Initiative is a consortium of major existing and emerging brain research projects worldwide, aimed at advancing coordinated innovation and collaborative development in global neuroscience through cross-border integration of research efforts. This move by IBI marks a further step in strengthening the initiative’s role in advancing cross-border brain science research and international academic collaboration, as it works—guided by the principle of “science without borders”—to integrate global brain research resources, reduce geographic and disciplinary barriers, and accelerate progress in brain science and neurotechnology. IBI noted that, going forward, it will leverage the combined strengths of major large-scale brain science projects globally and work in close coordination with partners such as the International Brain Research Organization (IBRO) to open up unprecedented opportunities for international cooperation. Through these efforts, IBI seeks to provide an open and collaborative international platform for advancing the understanding of the brain, addressing neurological diseases, and developing cutting-edge technologies.
