致力于肌骨系统生物力学、运动与康复生物力学、康复工程前沿创新研究，承担国家重点研发项目，国家自然科学基金项目，教育部产教融合基地建设项目，国家体育总局项目等。作为主要完成人获得教育部自然科学奖一等奖、上海康复医学科技奖一等奖、黄家驷生物医学工程奖一等奖、中国康复医学会科技奖一等奖、浦东新区科技进步奖、上海医学科技奖等奖项。指导学生获得挑战杯全国二等奖、上海市一等奖，全国大学生智能技术应用大赛一等奖、中国服务机器人大赛服务机器人专项赛一等奖、全国大学生体育产业创新创业大赛总决赛银奖，多次被同济大学和医学院评选为优秀导师，连续两届被评选为全国康复医学专家学术影响力百强。他指导过的学生在高校、科研院所、三级医院、政府机关和头部企业表现优异。先进事迹被《科学中国人》、《中国科技投资》等科技媒体报导。

Dr. Niu is engaged in the innovative research in the biomechanics of the musculoskeletal system, sports and rehabilitation biomechanics, and rehabilitation engineering. He has been supported by the National Key Research and Development Projects, National Natural Science Foundation projects, the Ministry of Education, and the National Sports Administration projects. He have won the first prize of the Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education, the first prize of the Shanghai Rehabilitation Medicine Science and Technology Award, the first prize of the Huang Jiasi Biomedical Engineering Award, the first prize of the Science and Technology Award of the China Rehabilitation Medicine Association, the Pudong New Area Science and Technology Progress Award, and the Shanghai Medical Science and Technology Award. His students have also won the National Second Prize of the Challenge Cup, the First Prize of Shanghai City, the First Prize of the National College Student Intelligent Technology Application Competition, the First Prize of the China Service Robot Competition Service Robot Special Competition, and the Silver Award of the National College Student Sports Industry Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition Finals. He has been selected as excellent mentors by Tongji University and Medical College multiple times, and have been selected as one of the top 100 academic influence experts in national rehabilitation medicine for two consecutive times. The students he has guided have performed excellently in universities, research institutes, tertiary hospitals, government agencies, and leading enterprises. The advanced deeds have been reported by technology media such as "Scientific Chinese" and "China Science and Technology Investment".
