Xiuli Wang is the chief physician of Shanghai Skin Disease Hospital, the lifetime professor and doctoral tutor of Dermatology and Venereology of Tongji University. She is the director of institute of photomedicine affiliated to Tongji University School of Medicine. She is honored with the State Council special allowance. She is the first batch of leading talents in Jing'an District, Shanghai. She received her M.D. and Ph.D. degrees in Photodynamic Medicine and Medicine from the University of Munich in Germany and Fudan University in China, respectively. She also was the senior visiting scholar of Laser-Forschungslabor at LIFE-Centre University Hospital Munich and Wellman Center for Photomedicine in Massachusetts General Hospital of Harvard University. She is "My Favorite Tutor of Tongji University School of Medicine" in 2016, one of top ten mentors of Tongji University school of medicine in 2017, the "Outstanding Teacher of Ethics" in Tongji University Nomination Award in 2020,Excellent Graduate Student Mentoring Team of Tongji University School of Medicine in 2021, "Most Distinguished Teacher of Moral Character and Ethics" of Tongji University School of Medicine in 2022, Outstanding Science and Technology Worker of Tongji University School of Medicine in 2025.

王秀丽教授30余年前起国内最早开展皮肤科ALA光动力临床治疗、基础研究和技术推广,涉及光动力治疗皮肤肿瘤、尖锐湿疣、中重度痤疮、玫瑰痤疮等难治性皮肤病,为临床规范化推广及优化治疗方案提供指导性数据。牵头制订临床指南/共识9部,主持国家科技部重点研发计划、国家自然科学基金等28项。发表学术论文近400篇,SCI论文230余篇;主编主译著作6部;获省部级科技奖励10项,国家专利9项。获2022年国际光动力协会 “临床光动力研究卓越贡献奖”、2022年度“上海医务工匠”、2023年“中国女医师协会五洲女子科技奖”、2025年国际光动力协会“光动力疗法重大突破奖”、“临床光动力研究卓越贡献奖”、“Tayyaba Hasan(光动力巨匠)影响力奖”。连续3年荣登全球前2%顶尖科学家,连续数年中国皮肤病领域学者学术影响力前十。
Professor Xiuli Wang pioneered the clinical treatment, basic research, and technology promotion of ALA photodynamic therapy (PDT) in dermatology in China more than 30 years ago. She focuses on the expansion of indications, optimization of parameters, exploration of mechanisms, and the generalization of the PDT technology into the dermatology. Her work covers PDT for refractory skin diseases such as cutaneous tumors, condyloma acuminatum, moderate-to-severe acne, and rosacea, providing guiding data for the standardized clinical promotion and optimization of treatment regimens. Prof. Wang has led the development of 9 clinical guidelines/consensuses. As a principal investigator, she has held 28 grants including 2 National Key Research and Development Program of China as well as 6 Natural Science Foundation programs (NSFC). By now, she had published nearly 400 papers including more than 230 peer-reviewed English articles. She has edited and translated 6 academic monographs as chief editor/translator, won 10 scientific and technological awards, and obtained 9 national patents. Prof. Wang was honored with the 2022 Outstanding Contribution Award for Clinical Photodynamic Research from the International Photodynamic Association (IPA), the 2022 Shanghai Medical Craftsman, 2023 Wuzhou Women's Science and Technology Award from the Chinese Medical Women's Association, and three awards from the IPA in 2025: Major Breakthrough Award in Photodynamic Therapy, Outstanding Contribution Award for Clinical Photodynamic Research, and Tayyaba Hasan Impact Award.
She has been listed among the world's top 2% scientists for three consecutive years and ranked among the top 10 scholars in terms of academic influence in China's dermatology field for several years.
