How to Apply 2024 International Student Recruitment Plan for Six-year English-taught MBBS Program Ⅰ. Major Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) is a full-time six-year English-taught program for international students. The main courses include: human anatomy, histoembryology, physiology, cytology and biochemistry, medical genetics, immunology, pathogenic biology, pathology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, diagnostics, internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, traditional Chinese medicine, psychiatry, etc. Please refer to Appendix for a general idea of the course arrangement, and the specific arrangement should be based on the curriculum of the year of enrollment. Ⅱ. Qualifications Applicants should be between 18-25 years old (No later than Dec. 31st of that year, Dec. 31st included.), high school graduate or above, non-Chinese citizen with non-criminal record, in good health and with a good command of English (IELTS 6.5 / TOEFL IBT 85 or above). ☆ Applicants who are native English-speakers or have studied in English-taught high schools are not required to submit English proficiency certificates. ☆ Applicants who are immigrants from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan (China) and are a foreign national, or whose parents are both Chinese citizens and have settled abroad, or who have been a foreign national since birth must meet the requirements of the Ministry of Education's Jiao Wai Han [2020] No.12; ☆ If the applicant is under the age of 18 before 31st August of the application year, the guardian is required to provide supplementary materials. See "IV. Application Materials" for details. Ⅲ. Application Period First Round Application Period: Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship and Self-Supporting Students: November 20, 2023 to January 20, 2024. Second Round Application Period: Self-supporting students only: March 1, 2024 to April 20, 2024.
IV. Application Materials Note: Only the electronic version of the application materials should be uploaded in the application system during the application. If you are accepted, please make sure to bring the original paper version of the application materials for verification when you come to school. If you are unable to submit, or if the materials do not match, you will be disqualified from admission. 1. Personal information page of your passport (Passport valid until January 30, 2025 and beyond). 2. High school graduation certificate -Certificates in languages other than English or Chinese must be provided with the original notarized document in Chinese or English translation, and the notarized document must be provided by the Chinese embassy or consulate in foreign countries or foreign embassies or consulates in China. -The original copy of the expected graduation certificate issued by the school of the fresh high school graduate, if accepted, must bring the original official high school graduation certificate for verification at the time of registration. -For SPM diploma in Malaysia, a certificate of completion of one year of matriculation study and transcript of matriculation course are also required. 3. Original or notarized transcripts of all high school courses -Transcripts in languages other than English or Chinese must be submitted with a notarized copy of the original Chinese or English translation, which must be provided by the Chinese embassy or consulate in the foreign country. -We recommend that you attach a description of the evaluation criteria of the transcripts. -High school entrance examination results from the country of origin or internationally accepted standardized tests such as UEC/A Level/AP/IB/SAT/ACT can be submitted as additional documents.. 4. Copy of English proficiency certificate: IELTS 6.5 / TOEFL IBT 85 or above. The original certificate is required to be submitted at the registration, if the student is admitted. (☆Applicants who are native English-speakers or have studied in English-medium high schools are not required to submit English proficiency certificates. 5. Physical Health Report (in the last six months)or a valid visa currently in use in China. 6. Personal Statement -Please fill out the personal statement according to the personal statement template (undergraduate), and write the text according to the language of instruction of the major program (Chinese for Chinese teaching majors, English for English teaching majors).; 7. Admission priority will be given to applicants holding New HSK Level 4 Certificates. Admission priority will be given to applicants who can provide letters of recommendation/personal statement. Admission priority will be given to applicants who can provide other supporting materials, e.g. award certificates, foreign entrance examination transcripts, university admission notice, etc. 8. Proof of payment of the registration fee; For remittance through offline bank or online bank, it is necessary to submit a photo of the remittance voucher or a screenshot of the online remittance. It is not necessary to submit the remittance through the online application system. Payment can be made in the system upon submission of the application. Applicants who have not paid the registration fee will not be reviewed. 9. Applicants who are immigrants from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan (China) and have acquired foreign nationality, or who have been foreign nationals at birth because one or both of their parents are Chinese citizens and have settled abroad must submit the following materials: –Former Chinese citizens who have subsequently become foreign nationals must submit: (1)Certificate of cancellation of Chinese nationality or household registration; (2)Certificate of naturalization as a foreign national; (3)Scanned copy of entry and exit record stamps on the passport from April 30, 2020 to the time of application submission (with record of actual residence in a foreign country for more than 2 years, of which actual residence for 9 months in a year can be counted as one year); (4)Entry and Exit Information Form According to applicable regulations, overseas Chinese, including former Chinese citizens who have become foreign nationals and their children of foreign nationality, and Chinese citizens’ children of foreign nationality, must pass the pre-examination of nationality conducted by our university at the admission stage, and the nationality identification conducted by the entry-exit administration department of the Chinese public security organ after enrollment. Applicants who fail to pass the pre-examination or the Identification of nationality will be deemed to have automatically waived their application qualifications and subsequent possible admission qualifications or student status. –Applicants who have been foreign nationals at birth in a foreign country with one or both parents being Chinese citizens must submit: (1)Certificate of foreign nationality acquired at birth of the applicant; (2)Scanned copy of entry and exit record stamps on the passport from April 30, 2020 to the time of application submission (with record of actual residence in a foreign country for more than 2 years, of which actual residence for 9 months in a year can be counted as one year); (3)Entry and Exit Information Form Please upload the above materials in a compressed package to the “Supplementary Application Materials” column of the application system. ☆ In addition to the application materials mentioned above, the university may require applicants to provide supplementary materials, depending on the circumstances. The application documents will not be returned. V. Application and Admission Procedure 1. Complete the Tongji Online Application procedure at the website http://study-info.tongji.edu.cn. You MUST submit all application materials online. Please refer to "IV. Application Materials" for detailed list of materials. When filling out the form, please note that the English name should be consistent with the passport. If there is no Chinese name, the system will generate it automatically. 2. Pay the application fee by bank transfer and submit the photocopy of transfer voucher with other documents or pay it directly through the Tongji Online Application system. The online application fee is RMB600, which is non-refundable. 3. After the online review of documents is approved, the applicant will be informed to participate in the admission interview. 4. Attend the admission interview (offline or online) organized by the school of medicine, and the interview results will be sent by email within two weeks after the interview. 5. Applicants who have passed the documents review, the admission interview, and verified the correctness of the paper application materials(Electronic version) will be officially admitted. The applicants will receive a pre-admission email and be asked to pay the admission deposit. The application status of the applicant in the online system will be changed to “enrolled” accordingly. 6. The Admission Notice and Visa Application Form (JW202) will be posted to the applicant’s contact address or fetched in person later. Ⅵ. Expenses: 1. Tuition: RMB 45000 / year, 2. Compulsory insurance: about RMB 800 yuan / year ☆ The above two items should be paid at the registration 3. Application fee: RMB 600 / time ☆Application fee should be paid when applying and the fee is non- refundable.
VII. Admission and Registration 1.Please follow your application process in the Online Application System. Once you were admitted by Tongji, the admission status will change. The admission notice and Visa Application Form (JW202) will be sent in June - July. 2.The registration time is around the end of August to the beginning of September 2024, and the specific date is subject to the admission notice of Tongji University. Admitted applicants should go to a Chinese embassy (consulate) abroad to apply for a study visa with their passports, Tongji University Admission Notice, and the Visa Application Form for Foreign Students in China (JW202), and take the above-mentioned materials to Tongji University to apply for admission at the time specified in the notice, as well as a residence certificate in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Entry-exit Administration Bureau of Shanghai Public Security Bureau. 3.The first academic year is the probation period for all the undergraduates. Those whose credits failed sum up to 25 or cannot meet the requirements by the respective schools will be dismissed and will be unable to continue their studies for the second year. 4.Students who submit their expected graduation certificate during application should submit their official graduation certificate during registration. 5.Accommodation: Please follow the accommodation selection notice of Tongji University International Student Office. In principle, full scholarship students will be arranged for accommodation by the school, but the availability of dormitories on campus is limited. If the reservation for dormitories on campus is full, students (including full scholarship students) are requested to arrange their own accommodation during their study abroad period. VIII. Scholarships 1.Scholarship at entrance The newly-admitted students will be offered the MBBS entry scholarship (one-off payment of 10% of the first-year tuition) if they have met the following requirements:1) receive the offer before July 15, 2024, 2) submit a certain admission deposit before August 31st, 2024(The exact date is subject to the payment notice), 3) register on the specified date at the beginning of September as per the admission notice. 2.
