On November 20^th, 2017, the 14^th Shanghai Observer was held at Yifu Building, Tongji University. Shanghai Observer is an official organization and the core value of this reading event is to share master’s thoughts and enlighten people.

Tongji University has the great honor to invite Shanghai Observer and Mr. Frederick Chien to attend an excellent reading event, which is “People Should Distinguish between Right and Wrong”. Under this topic, Mr. Frederick Chien shared his own life experience and talked about his “inner confess”. He reminded himself daily to make a clear distinction between right and wrong. He also mentioned about recent United States Presidential Elections, his opinion about Money and Internet Era. At last, he used a Chinese traditional saying “The water that bears the boat is the same that swallows it up” as a conclusion to end his talk and made best wishes to the audience.

The 14^th Shanghai Observer was sponsored by Liberation Daily and Tongji University, hosted by Tongji University School of Medicine and Shanghai Observer, co-organized by Tongji University Library, Shanghai Zhuji Chamber of Commerce and Shanghai Qianliu Seminar.

Present at the reading club were: Mr. Frederick Chien, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and former President of the Control Yuan, with his wife Ms. Julie Tien from Taiwan; Ms. Li, Yun , the Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Liberation Daily; Mr. Qian, Handong, a cultural scholar; Mr. Zhong, Zhihua, the President of Tongji University; Ms. Ma, Jingming, the Vice Secretary of the Party Committee of Tongji University; Mr. Zhang, Jun, the Secretary of the Party Committee of Tongji University School of Medicine and other leaders and representatives from main administrative departments of Tongji University; representatives from Shanghai Zhuji Chamber of Commerce; representatives from Shanghai Qianliu Seminar; and faculties and students from Tongji University. Hosted by Mr. Luo, Xing, a well-known compere.
