The 8th Mayor Award of
Shanghai Youth Science and Technology Innovation was held on the afternoon of
December 19. YING Yong, deputy secretary of Shanghai Municipal Committee and
mayor, presented awards to winners and had a cordial exchange with them. FENG Chaobo,
an undergraduate, and JIANG Tao, a PhD graduate, who are students of Tongji
University School of Medicine won the Nomination Awards and attended the
ceremony.
This year, the Mayor Award and Nomination Award
were given to 10 people respectively, with an average age of 22, and the
youngest is only 11. Mayor Award of Shanghai Youth Science and Technology Innovation
is allowed by municipal government and jointly organized and implemented by
municipal education commission, municipal science and technology commission,
municipal science and technology association, municipal students' federation
and municipal young workers' commission, which is held every two years.
FENG Chaobo, an undergraduate of Tongji University,
has won one national award and three municipal awards and published two SCI
papers as second author and one received SCI paper as first author. The new
navigation system for minimally invasive spinal surgery developed by his team
could effectively reduce radiation exposure by about 40% and cut down learning
difficulty of minimally invasive spinal surgery, and has been widely applied in
more than 300 hospitals. It won the second prize of 15th Challenge Cup of National
Competition, the first prize of Shanghai municipal competition. He has demonstrated
relevant results more than once in domestic and international conferences, drawing
wide attention from all walks of life.
JIANG Tao, graduated from Tongji University
with a doctorate in oncology. With excellent academic performance, he has been
awarded national scholarship for doctoral students for three consecutive years,
and published 86 academic papers and SCI papers, including 48 as the first
author, with a cumulative impact factor of more than 300 and over 900 citations
by others. Besides, he won Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award in
2018 (No. 3), the first prize of Science and Technology of Chinese Anti-Cancer Association
in 2017 (No. 7). He is also named 2019 Shanghai Outstanding Graduate. Among all
PhD candidates in domestic oncology, JIANG Tao is the only "grand
slam" of global top academic conferences award winner in cancer field, including
International Mentorship Award and Young Investigator Award of International Lung
Cancer Association, ESMO Merit Award and ELCC Merit Award.
