On the afternoon of February 25, Shanghai Disabled Persons' Federation signed an agreement with Shanghai Shenkang Hospital's Development Center to jointly build Yangzhi Rehabilitation Hospital Affiliated to Tongji University (Shanghai Sunshine Rehabilitation Center), with the concern of Shanghai municipal government and the support of Shanghai Municipal Health Commission, Shanghai Shenkang Hospital's Development Center and Tongji University. The hospital aims to give full play to high-quality rehabilitation medical resources, meet the needs of rehabilitation services in Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta, update Shanghai's rehabilitation medical service system, improve Shanghai's rehabilitation medicine so as for the rehabilitation medical services to cover all people and their entire life cycles.
Zong Ming, vice mayor of Shanghai, Wang Aifen, chairman and party secretary of the Shanghai Disabled Persons' Federation, Zhang Xiong, party secretary and vice director of the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission, Wang Xingpeng, party secretary and director of the development center of Shanghai Shenkang Hospital, Chen Yihan, vice president of Tongji University and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, attended the signing activities. Leaders from Shanghai Disabled Persons' Federation, Shanghai Municipal Health Commission, Shanghai Shenkang Hospital Development Center, Tongji University, Songjiang District Party committee and government attended the meeting.

Dai Guangming, vice president of Shanghai Disabled Persons' Federation, and Zhao Rong, deputy director of Shanghai Shenkang Hospital Development Center signed the agreement on behalf of Shanghai Disabled Persons' Federation and Shanghai Shenkang Hospital Development Center.
At the signing ceremony, Jin Lingjing, president of the Yangzhi Rehabilitation Hospital, made an introduction to the planning and future development of the hospital. According to him, the hospital aims to build a national leading and internationally influential three-level rehabilitation hospital integrating rehabilitation medicine, rehabilitation education, rehabilitation research and rehabilitation medicine engineering. It is significant to make good use of Shenkang Municipal Hospital Management Platform achievement during the development of the hospital during the 14th five-year plan. The hospital will continue to uphold the concept of serving the disabled wholeheartedly, take "comprehensive rehabilitation" as the core, benchmark Shanghai Asian Medical Center and integrate intelligent rehabilitation technology. By covering the whole life cycle, the hospital aims to build a highland of rehabilitation clinical medical treatment, rehabilitation research and rehabilitation talent training. It will focus on international cutting-edge rehabilitation technology, create an intelligent rehabilitation clinical transformation platform, connect general hospital departments, and build "seven rehabilitation centers" specializing in nerves, bones and joints, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation as well as children, tumor, women's health and audio-visual rehabilitation. In line with the healthy China 2030 strategy, characteristic health management center will be established to contribute to the development of rehabilitation and medical services, the rehabilitation of the disabled and the construction of a healthy China in Shanghai.
The Yangzhi Rehabilitation Hospital affiliated to Tongji University, namely Shanghai Yangzhi Rehabilitation Hospital (Shanghai Sunshine Rehabilitation Center), is subordinate to the Shanghai Disabled Persons' Federation. It is the first public rehabilitation hospital in Shanghai, the first rehabilitation hospital affiliated to a university, disabled persons' rehabilitation center at the national, provincial and municipal levels, the regional industrial injury rehabilitation center, the regional industrial injury rehabilitation demonstration organization, the national "hope home" resource center for spinal cord injury victims, continuing education and training base of China Rehabilitation Medical Association, medical insurance designated medical institutions and standardized training and teaching base for rehabilitation residents. At present, the hospital has approved 360 beds and established a service system with rehabilitation medicine as the main body and supported by internal, external, women and children. The hospital is committed to cultivating excellent rehabilitation talents. In 2013, it set up the Department of Rehabilitation Therapy, developed a "2 + 2" (two years of University and two years of hospital) training mode, and implemented small class high-quality teaching in collaboration with the Medical School of Tongji University. So far, it has recruited seven undergraduate students of rehabilitation therapy, and the graduates are very popular among employers. In 2019, the rehabilitation treatment specialty led by the hospital passed the highest level (five years) certification of educational institutions of the world physical therapy alliance. The hospital expansion project is planned to be completed and put into use in 2023. By then, the total floor area of the hospital will reach 149,000m2, with 1,000 beds. After being put into use, the rehabilitation medical capacity of the hospital will be much improved, which can better meet the rehabilitation medical needs of the whole city, and provide more high-quality public services for the disabled.
