Recently, the Shanghai Federation of Trade Unions and the Shanghai Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau issued the Decision on Commending the Shanghai May Day Labor Award 2021. One individual and four groups from Tongji University were on the list. Among them, Liu Xuebo, director of the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine of the Tongji Hospital, won the Shanghai May Day Labor Medal 2021; the rural revitalization team headed by Professor Yang Guiqing of the College of Architecture and Urban Planning, Shanghai player training team (Tongji University) of the water treatment technology world competition project, the pediatric dentistry department of the Stomatology Hospital of Tongji University, and the obstetrics team of the First Maternal and Infant Health Hospital of Shanghai won the title of Shanghai Working Pioneers 2021.
Professor Liu Xuebo has worked in the front line of clinical practice and served patients wholeheartedly for the past 27 years. He is experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Being good at coronary interventional surgery, e.g. coronary artery, Professor Liu performed and supervised 10,000 cases of difficult and complicated operations and takes a leading role in applying interventional therapies for complex coronary heart disease in China.
The rural revitalization team led by Professor Yang Guiqing has made both theoretical and practical explorations in beautiful rural planning in Huangyan District, Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province since 2012. They have brought new changes to Huangyan Village by applying theory in practice, adapting various measures to local conditions, and providing the right solution to the problems. Professor Yang Guiqing's team initiated the establishment of the first rural revitalization college in China in early 2018 - Tongji Huangyan Rural Revitalization College, and created a comprehensive education platform which integrates theoretical research, practical guidance and talent training for rural revitalization. The team contributed Tongji's wisdom and made contributions to the implementation of the national rural revitalization.
The coaching team of Tongji University for the training of Shanghai players in Water Treatment Technology World Championship project and has built a specialized supervision team for water quality analysis and coagulation experiments according to the requirements of the Water Treatment Technology project of the World Skills Competition. The outstanding player, Jiao Heming, a doctoral student of Tongji University, won the championship in the Shanghai Session of the 46th World Championship Water Treatment Project and the championship of the 1st National Vocational Skills Competition Water Treatment Technology Project. In 2020 and 2021, Tongji University was approved as the Shanghai Training Base and China Training Base for the 46th World Championship Water Treatment Technology Project respectively.
The Department of Pediatric Stomatology of Stomatology Hospital affiliated to Tongji University specializes in the treatment of children's dental diseases, including prevention and treatment of children's caries, endodontics, occlusion induction and early orthodontics. Special treatment such as painless and comfort treatment is offered to meet the needs of children. As the only department in Shanghai that has been conducting public welfare diagnosis and treatment of oral diseases for children with autism for a long time, it has reached out to help more than thousands of people since 2009, with its influence extending over Shanghai to Jiangsu, Zhejiang .
The obstetrics team of the First Maternity and Infant Hospital has been dedicated to providing comprehensive, multidisciplinary and all-round medical care for women during pregnancy and childbirth. The hospital's annual delivery is around 30,000, which is the highest in Shanghai and among the highest in China. Over the years, the hospital has been committed to the treatment of high-risk pregnancies and was the first to propose and implement the "five-color approach" to maternity treatment in China. The team has a group of nationally renowned experts, who are at the advanced level in perinatal health care, prenatal diagnosis, difficult maternal diagnosis and treatment, and fetal medicine in China.
