On September 20,2023, a Linfield University delegation led by President Dr. Miles Davis and Vice President (Academic Affairs) Dr. Beth Concepcion visited Tongji University School of Medicine (TUSM).
Linfield University is a 165-year-old Oregon-based comprehensive institution with its main campus in McMinnville and primary care/nursing campus in Portland. Linfield’s School of Nursing is the oldest continuously operated and most highly respected nursing education program in the Pacific Northwest.
Professor ZHENG Jialin, Dean of TUSM, CHEN Cuiping, vice Dean of the School of Nursing (at preparatory stage), representatives from the Office of International Education and Cooperation, as well as nursing faculty members from two affiliated hospitals, Shanghai Tenth People's Hospital and Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital, attended the meeting.
The meeting began with Dean ZHENG Jialin introducing an overview of TUSM’s history, culture, future prospects, and the overall renovation planning of the West Campus of Tongji University. The Dean indicated that the medical school would actively promote exchanges and mutual learning between teachers and students. In addition, representatives from the Office of International Education and Cooperation and the School of Nursing (at preparatory stage) gave presentations and exchanged views on relevant topics.
President Dr. Miles Davis said he was deeply impressed by the distinctive discipline features, the research focuses and the high-quality teaching at TUSM, and looked forward to further collaboration in nursing, health management, cross-cultural education and other fields.
After the meeting, the delegation visited the clinical training center for nursing education at the First Maternity and Infant Hospital, where in-depth exchanges regarding practical teaching arrangements were held.
